Recordings of Council and Committee meetings and Council Member Briefing Sessions

Council at its meeting held on 17 January 2023, resolved to adopt a Recording of Council Meetings Policy 04.82 which has been developed to provide guidelines for the recording of Council Meetings in regard to appropriate creation, broadcast, storage, usage, access and disposal provisions.

Recordings are a free public service and are not an official record of Council meetings. Recordings will be made of Council meetings and uploaded onto this webpage after the meeting. For a copy of the official public record, please refer to the Agendas and Minutes page.  A copy of the minutes of each meeting will usually be available by close of business on the Friday following the meeting.

PROTECTION AND CONSENT

Recordings captured at Council meetings will not provide members of the public, Elected Members or Staff present immunity from defamation proceedings in relation to behaviour or statements made during the course of the meeting. The Local Government Act 1999 may however, provide some protection for Elected Members or Administration for an honest act or omission in the exercise, performance or discharge, or purported exercise, performance or discharge of the member’s or council powers, functions or duties under the Local Government or other Acts.

Individual opinions or statements made during the course of the Council meetings are not the opinions or statements of Council.

By participating in Council meetings, individuals consent to the use and disclosure of the information that they share at the Meeting (including any personal or sensitive information given), for the purposes of the Council carrying out its functions. Individuals also consent to the disclosure of that information to any person(s) who access recordings of District Council of Mount Remarkable meetings.

Recordings are the property of the District Council of Mount Remarkable. The reproduction of a recording/s requires the permission of the District Council of Mount Remarkable as reproduction may be subject to copyright protection under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth). Please telephone 8666 2014
