Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Section 122(1a)(a) of the Local Government Act 1999, Council at its Special Meeting held on 10 June 2026, resolved to endorse the 2026-2027 Annual Business Plan and Budget and Draft Long Term Financial Plan 2026-2027 to 2036 for community consultation.
Community consultation commences 9:00 am Thursday 17 June 2026 and concludes 1:00pm Wednesday 8 July 2026. The draft documents are available for viewing at the Administration Centre, 3 Stuart Street, Melrose and below.
All written feedback received for consideration within the draft 2026-2027 Annual Business Plan and Budget and draft Long Term Financial Plan 2026-2027 to 2036 is to be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer and sent to PO Box 94, Melrose SA 5483 or postmaster@mtr.sa.gov.au and must be received by 1:00pm Wednesday 8 July 2026.

Notice is hereby given that Council at its meeting held on 19 May 2026, resolved to approve undertaking a public consultation process in relation to a proposal to revoke the community land classification currently applicable to Lot 7 within Certificate of Title Volume 5789, Folio 950, being the Murray Town Hall.
Council is seeking feedback from the community either supporting or objecting to the above proposal and seeks to receive any submissions by Friday 19 June 2026. The revocation proposal is available for viewing in the Council Administration Office, 3 Stuart Street, Melrose or on Council’s website, HERE.

Leasing Opportunity - Murray Town Hall
The District Council of Mount Remarkable is seeking expressions of interest from individuals, businesses or community groups who may be interested in leasing the Murray Town Hall.
The Murray Town Hall is located at 53 Tinline Road, Murray Town. The location could be considered for an op shop/retail/café opportunity as it has good visibility on the main road from Adelaide leading into Melrose and the Flinders Ranges.

Draft Disability Access & Inclusion Plan 2026-2030
The District Council of Mount Remarkable is seeking feedback from the community in relation to its draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026-2030.
The Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026-2030 will guide how the Council supports access, inclusion and equity for people living with disability across the region to 2030. It builds upon actions, priorities and achievements from the previous 2020-2024 plan.

Draft Representation Review Report
Council is seeking feedback from the community in relation to the proposed changes outlined with the Draft Representation Review Report relating to its structure and composition.
The proposed changes address the legislative provisions relating to Sections 12 and 15(1) of the Local Government Act 1999 and regulation 11A of the Local Government (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2021.

At a Special Meeting held on 19 June 2025, Council approved its Draft 2025-2026 Annual Business Plan and Budget for release and community consultation.
The consultation period for the Annual Business Plan & Budget opens on Thursday 26 June 2025 closing on Wednesday 16 July 2025. A special meeting of Council will be held on Thursday 17 July for the community to present verbal submissions. All written and verbal feedback will be considered by the elected members prior to a special meeting on Tuesday 22 July 2025 where the 2025-2026 Annual Business Plan & Budget will be presented for adoption.

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to Section 10 of the Roads (Opening and Closing) Act 1991 that the District Council of Mount Remarkable proposes to make a Road process Order to close and vest in the Crown the un-made Public Road (Curtis Road) adjoining Sections 16 and 17 in the Hundred of Darling, more particularly delineated and lettered 'A' on Preliminary Plan 23/0017.

Lot 221 – CT5709/529 – Port Germein Caravan Park Allotment, Corner Esplanade and Ponape Street, Port Germein
This allotment is captured within the Port Germein Caravan Park and should the property be revoked from the classification as community land it is Council intention that the property continue to be used as a Caravan Park in the short to medium term. It should be noted that Council is keen to investigate opportunities for future options relating to the operation and management of the Caravan Park.

Proposed Sale of Booleroo Centre Country Womens’ Association Hall
At the July ordinary meeting of Council, correspondence was received from Mt View Homes indicating an interest moving their second hand furniture and goods shop (Op Shop) into the Booleroo CWA Hall. In response to the correspondence, Council resolved to explore options as to the future of the hall facility and received a report at its August meeting where it further resolved to undertake public consultation for future activation of the Booleroo Centre CWA Hall by way of sale to Mount View Homes. Draft 2024-2029 Strategic Community Plan
The Strategic Community Plan is one of Council’s key strategic planning document that sets out Council’s vision, objectives, goals and priorities for the next five years. In accordance with Council’s public consultation policy and to help shape the future of the District, Council invites community feedback on its endorsed for public consultation draft plan. The community consultation will take place as of 9.00am Monday 8 July 2024 and close 5pm Tuesday 30 July 2024. Feedback can be provided during the consultation period by:
- Making a written submission (via email postmaster@mtr.sa.gov.au or sent by mail PO Box 94, Melrose 5483).
- Providing verbal feedback to Council Members at Community Listening Posts and via Zoom community information sessions to be scheduled (all details of times and locations for listening posts and zoom information sessions will be promoted via Facebook and website)
- Attending Community Question Time 5.30pm-6.00pm Tuesday 16 July prior to the Ordinary meeting of Council at Melrose.

Annual Community Surveys
This survey is now closed. The 2024 annual community survey was open 17 April 2024 to 17 May 2024. The results of the survey will be presented to a Council Member Briefing Session in June and a report presented to the June Ordinary Meeting of Council.
Each year Council conducts an annual community engagement survey. In response to what we heard in the 2023 annual community survey results we implemented an action plan and regularly report on our progress (quarterly reports on Council agendas). Some of the key improvements you might have noticed are:
- Keeping our community informed online about our operations activities
- Community Listening Posts have been introduced
- Council agenda reports consider the “community impact” of Council decisions
- Earlier community engagement in business planning and budget development
- Customer service request process has been reviewed and improved
- Council newsletters focus on strategic issues and projects of interest to the community
- Promotion of Elected Members answering questions received at community question time
By completing the 2024 annual survey, you'll help us to monitor what's changed, what's improved and what Elected Members and staff still need to focus on to deliver great services and outcomes for the community. Council is keen to hear from as many residents as possible to ensure the survey is truly reflective of the broader community’s views. There are several ways you can participate, including:

- Picking up a physical copy from council’s Administration Office, 3 Stuart Street, Melrose
- Contacting Council direct on 8666 2014 or postmaster@mtr.sa.gov.au to request a copy.
We also encourage you to share the survey with your friends / family / colleagues within the District. We need you to help spread the word and get as many people involved as possible. The survey will be open for the next month, closing at 5pm on Friday 17 May 2024.
Council will provide a report on the survey outcomes and keep the community informed of how your voices are making a difference.

There are no right or wrong answers, it is just your opinions that we are after. All information will be used solely by the Council to inform future planning and delivery of services. Engagement Surveys - Youth & Young Children
Council is seeking the views of the young children and youth in our community to inform the drafting of a strategy aiming to provide a strategic roadmap focussed on supporting the wellbeing of- children (0-11 years) and youth (12- 25 years) within our District.
The primary strategic goal is to create a secure, inclusive and sustainable environment for children and young people in our community while involving them in decision-making and providing connections to local community groups and service providers.
Surveys tailored to each of the age groups are now available. The surveys will also be promoted through the local schools. Parents and caregivers are also able to participate in the surveys.
Feedback received at the close of the survey period will be reviewed by Council Members at a briefing session. All considerations will be captured to enable a draft strategy to then be submitted to a meeting of Council seeking endorsement for public consultation prior to final adoption and implementation.

Port Germein Foreshore Playground
Council would like your input to inform the final design of the Port Germein Foreshore Playground.
Two design options have been developed to inform a final design which will transform the existing playground in 2024. The design options reflect Council’s adopted budget for the project being $300,000.
