Credit Card Statements

Council is committed to good governance practices and transparency in regard to the use of corporate credit cards for business related activities. Council's Credit Card Policy clearly articulates the responsibilities and requirements involved in the utilisation and administration of purchase cards.

Council’s Credit Card Policy supports management and staff in applying consistent business processes and compliance around the use and administration of purchase cards. The policy also sets out the responsibilities for Council employees, including card holders and approving officers. In particular, the policy explains:
  • the approval process for issuing purchase cards and purchase card limits;
  • the circumstances in which purchase cards may be utilised;
  • the responsibilities of council employees when utilising purchase cards;
  • the monthly reconciliation and review of purchases through purchase cards;
  • the process to address inappropriate or fraudulent use of purchase cards;
  • the circumstances requiring the return of purchase cards; and
  • the annual review of purchase card utilisation and card limits.

The policy also strengthens the internal controls for the use of and the administration of purchase cards.

The credit card statements are presented to each meeting of Council’s Audit & Risk Committee for scrutiny.
