Official Opening of the Appila-Tarcowie Bridge
The District Council of Mount Remarkable held the Official Opening of the Appila-Tarcowie Bridge on Thursday 4 September 2025 at 10:00am on-site.
This project was initiated following an asset condition assessment finding the original bridge to be nearing it's end of serviceable life and was funded through the Federal Governments Bridge Renewals Program and the Special Local Roads Program along with a co-contribution of Council.
The Bridge Renewal Program was project managed via collaboration of FYFE Engineers, McMahon Services and the District Council of Mount Remarkable and was delivered within budget and with only slight delays due to weather events.
Mayor Stephen McCarthy opened the bridge for a crowd of approximately 35-40 people including local Member of Parliament Geoff Brock, FYFE representative, McMahon representatives, adjoining Council mayors, DCMR staff and members of the council area and wider public.
A light morning tea was provided upon completion of the opening at the Appila Town Hall where people reflected on the history of the bridge and also the future benefits of the renewed bridge.
