Willowie
The town of Willowie was proclaimed in 1878 and was initially formed from Willowie Station in 1844. Formally a successful agricultural town, now holds a handful of houses, local hall and cemetery.
In 2018, members of the community received a government grant from the Department of Veteran’s Affairs to publish a book called Diggers from the Dust. This book was created to highlight the importance of local war history. It was a culmination of years of research by authors Di and Andrew Barrie.
The book launch at the Willowie Memorial Hall was also awarded the 2019 Community Event of the Year. The Book Launch was held on October 28th and was attended by an estimated 200 people.
