Council Policies

Council is required to have appropriate policies and procedures in place to assist in the good governance of its operations as per the Local Government Act 1999 and other applicable legislation.

One of the most important roles Council has is to participate in making policy and decisions on behalf of its community.  An essential part of policy making is identifying community needs, setting objectives to meet those needs, establishing priorities between completing demands and allocating resources.

Our policies reflect the culture, values and strategic direction of the Council and our community and are a guiding or governing tool of the organisation that mandate or constrain actions and ensure compliance.

Policies will be reviewed within 12 months after a General Election, in line with any legislative changes, or by resolution of Council.

The following policies are currently enacted and adopted by Council.
